From Torremirona to Camprodon
The drive is about 65 km and takes about an hour. Especially the route from Olot to Camprodon is fantastic. Now you surely know you are in the Pyrenees.
Camprodon golf Club
This is how the club is introduced on their website:
The Camprodon Golf Club was inaugurated in October 1990, with Don Narciso De Prat Batlle as its first president, who managed to excite the residents and holidaymakers of Camprodon during its construction.
The course, nestled in the Camprodon valley in the Eastern Pyrenees, has 9 holes (par 70) and is the only golf course in the counties of Ripollès and Garrotxa. It is located at a height of nearly a thousand meters above sea level.
The clubhouse
This is a club for golfers. Playing golf not to become a champion, but to enjoy the walk, the golf game and the social interactions.
My impression is that it is a course for the locals, managed and played by the members, though with members coming as far away as Barcelona.
Asked about the number of staff – the answer was: we have 1 green keeper and 1 gardener and me, I run the clubhouse and a major part of the daily administration.
When we called to book a tee time, we were asked what time we expected to arrive. Around 10 – 10.30! Ok was the answer. I might not be there – it’s my day off – but the green keeper might be there, and you can pay him. But call me when you arrive, and I might come.
And yes. The good man arrived 10 minutes later.
In the little wooden club house, he made us a cup of coffee and a delicious sandwich and after the talk he played the first 4 holes with us.
The golf course
The course is built in a forest on a hilly terrain. Fantastic nature. The only sound you hear comes from the birds and the water streams, and in one place a well named after a saint. Here we also find signs for the Camino de Compostela.

The layout of the course
Very interesting layout with many beautiful golf holes. And you don’t need a manicured golf course to enjoy the game and share your interest in golf with others. As you see from the following picture
The social part is an important part of golf
As said, the course has many interesting, challenging and surprising golf holes and difficult ones too. And not to forget a beautiful nature and only the sound of birdsong.
Hole 3 and 11, par 5
Few of the holes are fairly flat, but otherwise up and down. See the following pictures
Some are just uphill
Some are just down hill
Holes 8 and 17. Great par 3. To me a great hole
We played the course in late March – Early Spring – Beautiful
When we left the club, we really wanted to play it again. But we have to wait. This was just one of the first courses of many ahead
The mental part of the game
What at start to the Camino del Golf.
We played the 9-holes twice. Not thinking much about the scores. Enjoyed the quietness and the birdsong. We left in a calm and inner stage of peace. Compared to Peralada and Torremirona, the only similarity is that it is a place where you can play golf.
To me – in a way – this is more authentic. You don’t think much about the score you just enjoy the nature, the walking and swinging the golf clubs. Par and birdies are possible and nice, but the score is secondary. Just enjoy.
