It is nearly time to play golf in South Africa
Stellenbosch Golf Club and De Zalze Golf Club are now waiting for us. We are landing in Cape Town on February 12th, around 17.00. Stellenbosch is about 45 minutes’ drive from the airport. We have booked a nice B&B close to the 2 golf courses and expect to spend a couple of days acclimatizing, play Stellenbosch and De Zalze and maybe also visit the De Zalze vineyard
Stellenbosch is the 4th oldest Golf Club in South Africa. Originally a 9-hole golf course, but expanded to a 18-hole lay-out in 1953. The course has hosted some of South Africa’s most prestigious golf tournaments, including the 1999 South African Open and 5 South African Masters tournaments. The course is situated on the outskirts of the town, a park land course with the mountain in the background.
According to the Facebook page of the Stellenbosch Golf Club – the following quote from Seve Ballesteros when he played the SA Open, is awaiting us.
“I’d like to see the fairways more narrow. Then everyone will have to play from the rough, not just me”.
De Zalze is a quite new golf club and resort, established by the family and owner of the De Zalze vineyard.
These two golf clubs are situated close to each other. De Zalze is a more open course with a few lakes to make the scenery more beautiful and the game more difficult/dangerous.
Have fun you 2 & looking forward to seeing you In KZN & joining you on a round of golf if possible.
Enjoy, dear Eza & Finn,
We very much like de Zalza GC, for its beauty and being well maintained. Now its ‘just’ up to you to match a perfect round.
Hugs,
Jesper & Anne-Marie
