Leopard Creek – called off
As informed I decided to call off the game at Leopard Creek due to the fact the course was under maintenance. Though when we stayed close to Leopard Creek and played the Kambaku course, see evaluation, I was tempted to go anyway. I mean – you cannot be so close to the dream and not live it?
Then through our host at the Candilabri petite hotel, we were introduced to Harry Van Dyk.
Harry – we learned – is a fantastic person and great golf enthusiast. He is a member of Leopard Creek as well as of Kambaku golf club and he is the man in charge of green keeping at Kambaku. Talking to him you know that he knows what he is talking about. Which you will see from the following pictures.
Harry has made his own 3 hole golf course. 100% in according to best practice. Harry believe in the good old fashion way of playing golf – and that is bump and run.
But first of all; Harry talked me out of the idea of playing Leopard Creek under maintenance as it is right now. Waste of money and a good walk spoiled, he said.
Instead we got 2 invitations.
First; we were invited to come back in August and play Leopard Creek as his guests.
Next; “if you got the time this afternoon, I will invite you to play my private 3-hole course. Sorry, unfortunately I cannot play with you myself but I will ensure that there are somebody to take care of you and to show you around”.
Thank you very much Harry, we accepted and what a great experience.
Just want to say thank you very much to Harry Van Dyk. It was a unique experience and a great pleasure.
